‘Top six teams play five-day, rest play four-day test’

Soon the meeting is being held in 'Big Three', the pace of cricket may change

Mikey Arthur, Mahela Jayawardene, and Robbie Shastri open their mouths against the four-day Test. They have taken the stand to hold the five-day test

Four days or five days?

The cricket world is now divided on that question. The ICC is thinking of a four-day test instead of a five-day tour (FTP) from 2021 to 20 years. Since then the question of reforms in the most prestigious version of the game has been emerging. However, most of the former cricketers are against the four-day Test. Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle to Ian Botham and Glenn McGrath should have a five-day test. Some more names joined in the procession.

Sri Lanka coach and ICC Cricket Committee member Mikey Arthur sees the bright future of the five-day Test. In the ongoing series against the hosts on Indian soil, he argues to the media, ‘The five-day test still has to go far. The test consists of physical, mental and strategic tests.

On the fifth day, we often see a great fight, otherwise, it will not happen. ” But Arthur thinks it would not be fair to tackle Test cricket for financial or commercial reasons, ‘for financial reasons. However, I do not think the test should be moved. There are many draw matches but the thrill in the last days. ‘

Mahela Jayawardene is also a member of the ICC Cricket Committee. The Sri Lankan legend, also against the four-day Test, said, “We will discuss this at a meeting, and I do not know what will happen. But my personal opinion is that the test should be done within five days.

India coach Ravi Shastri also favors the five-day test, saying the four-day test is meaningless. If that happens we can get a short over the test. There is no need to move over the length of the five-day test. ”

Shastri also gave the ICC an insight, ‘If you have to do (four days) then the top six teams should play a five-day test. The next six teams play a four-day test. If you want to keep Test cricket alive, let the top six teams play more with each other. There is a short version to make the game popular. ”

The former, like Shane Warne, Michael Vaughan, and Mark Taylor, is in favor of a four-day test. Cricket Australia (CA) chief executive Kevin Roberts told the media earlier that the ICC is seriously considering a four-day test run.
