Before the long-awaited international break, at least for some players in the Arsenal squad, there was some drama in Europe, while it is still nothing to worry about as Arsenal are still in with a chance of winning the Europa League to earn the team a Champion’s League spot. Now it is time to look ahead and see what Arsenal has to deal with as we approach the final run into the end of one of the strangest seasons of football ever seen!
Unexpected turn for Olympiakos
In the second leg tie with Olympiakos on Tuesday, the Gunners suffered a defeat when Youssef El-Arabi shook the net in the second half. The previous leg tie brought an aggregate of 3-2 for Arsenal, bringing the Gunners to the quarterfinals of Europe League. The draw matched Arsenal with Slavia Praha in quarter finals, and should they manage to score, either Dinamo Zagreb or Villarreal await them in the semi-finals.
As for the Premier League, the last match with Tottenham Hotspur resulting in 2-1 for Arsenal brought the team more points. They still hang in the first ten on the table currently matched in points with Aston Villa sharing the 9th and 10th place. One draw match and a loss against Manchester City back in February.
Crystal Palace is four points behind at 11th place, just as Tottenham is 4 points up the ladder. Arsenal would need both some luck as well as see some good play to get itself higher on the table.
Up and Coming Fixtures
It has been a case of be careful what you wish for with Arsenal over the years, and things still have not been quite right since those successful days of Wenger. West Ham and Arsenal should clash on Sunday in the Premier League. The match is scheduled at 16:00 CET. West Ham had a good season this year, ranking currently at 5th place and seven points away from the Gunners. With Chelsea (4th) rigging their defense tighter than ever, it seems that WHFC will be looking to keep its position rather than improving, but we should be open to surprise.
Arsenal will later meet Liverpool in the Premier League on April 4th at 17:30 CET. Liverpool is five points away from Arsenal and Aston Villa, and with the last 3wins-2losses in the last five looks worse than Arsenal with 3-1 and a draw. We can expect both pleasant surprises and setbacks for both teams, with the recent changes and turbulences within both clubs. Liverpool seems to have more challenging pairs in the future than Arsenal, at least as far as the current table situation stands.
In the Europa League, Arsenal will clash Slavia Praha in two games in hopes to pass the quarter-finals. As the second quarter-final pair, the winner will meet the fourth pair, Dinamo Zagreb and Villareal. The current standings suggest Arsenal has got the edge against Czechs, but the team management reminds they should be on their toes and not let the guard down. Dinamo and Villareal have seen some changes and tweaks in their gameplay this season, and either shouldn’t be disregarded as worthy opponents, should the time come to meet them on the field.

Edu determined for at least one summer signing
Edu Gaspar, technical director at Arsenal FC, has allegedly made a list of players who can join the team as a right-back. With the links made with Arsenal and Lamptey and Hakimi, some speculate about them as prime candidates. Romano claims the team is currently scouting the player with no negotiations currently in process.
Lamptey seems like a prime candidate for critiques, and many wish to see him in red. Reports about Hekon Bellerin expressing the wishes to leave. Even though this may not be true, it’s better safe than sorry and leave the team to circumstances, so they are casting gazes in advance.
As for the midfield, there are rumors that Thomas Partney would finally get a partner there. Speculations about Barcelona’s Ilaix Moriba being wanted by Arsenal management may not be as surprising, as some say him and Partney would make a dream team on the field. His height, intelligence his former and current coaches report, and play-style that resembles Pogba, are indeed something that Arsenal could use in the midfield.
